Wicked Box Office: Quadruples Production Cost, Hits Major Milestone!
Even though Wicked has failed to effort with Moana 2 in the domestic theaters,ÓN polling the second position, it appears promising internationally. This achievement pushes the movie into a league of movies that gross over $500 million, following it’s incredible start in Germany. The musical fantasy starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo remains a force to reckon with at the box office even with the release of the new movie Kraven the Hunter.
Wicked has already earned more domestically than Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, a major blockbuster released during the pandemic. The Marvel blockbuster had earned $358.99 million domestic and $845.55 million worldwide. Now, Wicked is on pace to surpass $361 million in North America thereby becoming the third biggest film of the year.
Trade analyst Luiz Fernando estimates that Wicked has grossed more than $350m in North America: the film made $359.1m over a fiercely popularous weekend after Thanksgiving. In its fourth weekend of release, the film grossed $22.5 million, a first for a November release with a drop off of only a mere 38.3%. This incredible performance not only insulates it among the ranks of the dominant genres at the box office but also catapults it to the 66th at the North American list of all-time grossing films.
The domestic success combined with its growing international popularity continuously brings up the now popular Wicked successfully entertaining its viewers.
